Hey guys, I'm super excited to share something game-changing with you today! If you've ever felt awkward or inauthentic when filming videos or speaking on stage, this is going to completely transform your approach to marketing strategy.
I recently sat down with McCall Jones, founder of Charisma Hacking, for a deep dive into why trying to mimic other successful marketers might be killing your conversions. What she revealed about charisma in marketing and authentic business presentations blew my mind – and it might explain why some of your videos or webinars aren't converting as well as they should!
This game-changing episode reveals:
Have you ever watched someone like Tony Robbins or Gary Vee present and thought, "I need to be more like that to succeed in business presentations"? Then you try it, and something just feels... off?
That's exactly what happened to me with one of my video sales letters. I scripted it perfectly, memorized every line, and filmed it with high energy—but it wasn't converting well.
Here's what's crazy: McCall watched that video and immediately messaged me saying, "Hey, I saw the video on the page and you are out of your charisma's type. How's it converting for you?"
She nailed it! Despite having great copy and high energy, I was trying to be someone I'm not—and my audience could feel it.
"Your charisma controls their emotions," McCall explained. "So they just think, 'I'm not feeling it.' And they leave."
This is the EXACT same problem that's holding back thousands of entrepreneurs looking to increase sales through their marketing. You're trying to copy someone else's presentation style instead of leveraging your own natural charisma!
What makes McCall's approach so revolutionary is that she's broken down charisma into a science. It's not just about vague advice like "be yourself"—it's about understanding the specific elements that make your authentic marketing approach effective.
McCall discovered this framework by accident at her first Funnel Hacking LIVE. She met a woman who had spent $25,000 on ads and webinar production but wasn't getting results because she didn't feel authentic on camera.
After just four coaching sessions focused on helping this entrepreneur be herself, the results were staggering:
"We 12Xed her click-through rate on our Facebook ads and we 3Xed conversion rate on our webinar. And it was all just by making her herself."
The fundamental insight? Charisma in marketing looks different for different people. When you try to force yourself into someone else's presentation style, your audience can sense the disconnect—even if they can't articulate why.
"Before I ever show them how much my solution costs if they say yes, I show them how much it costs to say no to my solution."
The first dimension McCall identifies is how you naturally grab attention – your "Entertainment" style. This is especially important in the first few moments of any business presentation when you need to hook your audience.
McCall identifies six distinct entertainment styles, each with its own way of engaging an audience:
Finding your entertainment style helps you stop trying to copy presenters who operate completely differently from you. Instead, you can identify successful role models who share your natural tendencies to succeed in business presentations.
The second dimension McCall explores is how you naturally connect with people emotionally – especially important when using storytelling to increase sales
.
She explains how different types naturally focus on different aspects of emotional connection:
Steady - Very soft and emotions-focused. These types naturally focus on feelings and emotional states when connecting through storytelling.
Fix - Very analytical and context-based. Those with this style connect by focusing on external circumstances and practical solutions.
Mirror - Reactions-based with expressive facial responses. This style builds connection through showing visible empathy.
Understanding your natural compassion style helps you tell more impactful stories that genuinely connect with your audience's experiences—a key element in any effective marketing funnel.
The third dimension is all about how you naturally move people to action – your "Authority" style. This directly impacts how you pitch and close sales in your marketing strategy.
McCall identifies three distinct authority styles:
Light the Path - This is my authority style. I naturally focus on frameworks and systems in my role as an online marketing coach. "Your whole job is light the path," McCall explains. "If you get on this bus, you're going to get to where you want to go."
Lift - McCall's style, which she describes as "warm authority" where "I should be in the passenger seat" guiding clients. This approach empowers others by showing them they're capable.
Lead - Like Alex Hormozi or Gary Vee: "I'm in the driver's seat. I know all the shortcuts. I just need you to get in the car and here we go."
Understanding yours can transform how comfortable you feel when asking for the sale, which is crucial for business coaching for entrepreneurs.
One of the most powerful concepts McCall shares is the "Charisma Loop" – understanding when you're in your natural state ("on center") versus when you're trying to be someone else ("off center").
"You at your very best are your center, you're on-center," McCall explains. "Anytime you are inauthentic or you look and you're like, 'Something's off. I hate this,' you're not on-center, you are off-center."
Every time you go "off center," it's triggered by something – usually a false belief about how you "should" present yourself in business. These triggers pull you away from your natural charisma, making your marketing and presentations feel forced.
In the podcast, McCall explains exactly how to identify these triggers and get back to your center quickly to maintain an authentic marketing approach.
During our conversation, McCall pointed out something fascinating about my presentation style that I wasn't even aware of. She identified a specific storytelling pattern I use that dramatically increases sales.
She calls these "replication cost stories," and they transform a standard offer presentation into a compelling narrative about value. There are four types:
"Each stack item needs one replication cost story," McCall emphasized. "You cannot move forward with the stack without the replication cost story."
This technique alone could completely change how you structure your offers and dramatically increase sales through your marketing funnels!

Once you know your natural style, you can:
In the podcast, McCall and I go much deeper into each charisma type, with specific examples and detailed frameworks you can apply immediately to your marketing strategy. We also discuss several case studies of entrepreneurs who transformed their results by embracing their authentic marketing approach.
The most powerful takeaway from my conversation with McCall is that trying to be someone else isn't just uncomfortable—it's terrible marketing!
Your natural charisma, when properly understood and leveraged, becomes your greatest asset for converting leads and building your business. This is essential knowledge for anyone seeking business coaching for entrepreneurs.
As McCall puts it: "The entire point of Charisma Hacking is first, charisma looks different for different people, and second, there are no good or bad Charisma Styles, only right and wrong for every person."
When you align your marketing funnels with your authentic charisma style, you'll not only feel more comfortable—you'll convert better and create deeper connections with your audience.
